Explicație:

Cel mai simplu este să facem disocierea dintre adjectivul „bad” (sau „good”) de adverbul „badly” (sau „well”) punând întrebarea specifică:

ce fel de? - pentru adjectiv
cum? - pentru adverb

Exemplu:

This is a good book.

Aceasta este o carte bună. (ce fel de carte? bună = adjectiv)

I know this book well.

Cunosc această carte bine. (cum o cunosc? bine = adverb)

Acesta este doar un mod simplist de explicație. Ca și în limba română, adjectivele determină substantivele (carte bună), iar adverbele determină verbul (cunosc bine).
