As I sat down at my desk and stared at the pile of revision notes, all I could think was "Why me?". I got up and took a few steps around my room, pacing anxiously up and down. I then opened the window shades, to see what was going on outside. It was an awfully sunny day for an autumn evening. I thought to myself that maybe I could draw inspiration from outside, but to no avail. I sat back down at my desk, fidgeting with the pen. I took one piece of paper from the never-ending pile and pored over it carefully, endeavouring to make sense of my assignment. "Why would the teacher pick me for this event and not anyone else?". "What made me so special?". These are the questions I couldn't get out of my head. Three days ago, Mrs. Duncan, my English teacher, told us that she would be needing one of us to hold the opening speech at an international conference. I obviously expected her to pick Jessica - after all, she is the most gifted one among our class. To my surprise, Mrs. Duncan comes over to my desk and asks me to stand up. She simply says to me: "You'll do it!". I was flabbergasted - I didn't know what to say or how to react. I had never taken part in a more important project. So there I was, in my room, staring at the pile of notes. Half of them were filled with key points, which I was expected to tackle during my speech. The other half were filled with my scribbles, drafts and failed attempts. I didn't know what to do - I had no inspiration. To make matters worse, the speech was due tomorrow. The next day, I get on stage, I pick up the microphone, my arm shivering, and....action!
