The water rabbit (Bunolagus monticularis) is one of the most endangered species in the world. This animal has a cream-colored fur, a woolly brown tail and black stripes on the cheek. It is found only in the Karoo Desert in the Cape Province of South Africa. This habitat limitation may be the cause of the decline in the population of these animals to only 200 specimens worldwide.
