I was so happy when I saw the car that tears of joy pricked my eyes. I've been waiting in the cold, shivering for over two hour. As I went to buy myself some water, the line was so long at the checkout, that the bus didn't wait for me. My teacher must've not noticed I wasn't there, because they haven't turned around for me.
I was frightened. I thought I was gonna be left stranded alone with no one looking for me. The terror made me shiver more than the cold did. I couldn't call anyone as I had forgotten my phone in the bus, and the panic just kept growing by the minute.
Luckily for me, the woman working at the store was nice enough to let me call someone to come pick me up. I tried to reach my mom numerous times, but she wouldn't answer. Knowing her, she ignored the number because she didn't recognize it. However, my friend Olivia answered my call, and in just about thirty minutes, I saw her car pull up.
I quickly got in the warm car, and reached over to give my friend a grateful hug. Without her, who knows how much longer I would've had to wait. She drove me back home, and I managed to get my phone back once my class returned from the trip. I've never felt so relieved and safe as I did in that moment.
