1. run out of money = to finish, to use them all so that there is none left.
2. to put money by = to save some, to put aside
3. to take out a loan = to get/ to receive a loan of money from creditors or a financial institution
4. eating into = to gradually reduce the amount of (time/money) that is available
5. live on = have a particular amount of money with which to buy food or other necessities; to subsist on a particular type of food
6 cut down = to reduce an amount ( sometimes to do less of something bad)
