Dear residents of Holyfil neighbourhood,
I am writing to you regarding an important problem that has recently emerged in our neighbourhood. As you are aware, one of the green areas is to be redesigned and transformed into a shopping center. I believe such a project is highly detrimental to the environment, as well as to the overall well-being of the inhabitants of the neighbourhood.
Our neighbourhood has always been one of the greenest in the city. Thanks to its position near the “Lake Holyfil Natural Reservation”, it is the home of a variety of animals, some of which are protected by law. Furthermore, many inhabitants are keen on outdoor activities, such as gardening, and the flora will suffer from the realisation of the proposed project. Taking into consideration the exceptional conditions of the neighbourhood, it would be unfortunate to not try and prevent such an ecological disaster.
Moreover, our neighbourhood is known to be “family-friendly”. As such, the construction of a shopping mall would represent a danger for young children, who are now able to play freely in their gardens due to the lack of traffic. With the increase of activity in the neighbourhood (which is directly related to a …), it cannot be predicted whether safety levels will remain the same or not. In addition to this, there already are local independent shops in the area, which will be suffocated by the bigger companies.
In conclusion, building a shopping center is detrimental both to people and to nature. I hope this matter will receive your attention as, from my point of view, it is of utmost importance. As residents of the neighbourhood, we can formally express our disagreement in regard to this issue and oppose the decision of the city council.
