This story tells about the people of Kejarli in Rajasthan, who sacrificed their lives for saving the trees. The girl named Amrita was very fond of trees and treated the trees as her friends. The Kejarli trees give food like beans, bark is used as medicine, leaves are used as spinach to cook. The people of that village are totally dependent on these trees. Unfortunately, they were put to death by soldiers of the king from palace while cutting the trees.
Even after 300 years, the people of Kejarli were named as ‘The tree huggers.’ This place is evergreen and the animals live here peacefully. The people were respectful, affectionate and cared the trees. My students very beautifully played the puppets for this real story in Tamil language.
